The beaches, with their clean sand and lonely surf, drew us to them. But they are also backed by an interesting series of dunes. Younger dunes, such as the one above, are colonized only by scattered patches of dune grass. Older ones, such as the one to the right, are vegetated by a variety of woody shrubs such as Bull Banksia, Banksia grandis.
