In these southwestern areas the western grey kangaroo, Macropus fuliginosus, replaces the red kangaroo and the euro kangaroo found in the west-central areas of the country. Note the joey being carried in the mother's pouch in the photograph to the left. This species of kangaroo is extremely graceful when it is hopping along - it made me wish for a video camera.
