The grey-headed flying fox (Pteropus poliocephalus) is a type of fruit bat, so named because they feed of a variety of wild fruits, especially wild figs. They forage between dusk and dawn and during the day "hang out" in camps like this one in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney. This is the largest Australian bat and has a wing span of about 1 meter (a little more than 3 feet). | |
